We are currently looking to complete our Boarding Team. What we offer:

• Shift: Sunday 12:00pm-5:00pm with additional hours dependant on need of school and individual availability, other than the Sunday shift hours and schedule are flexible
• $24.00 per hour plus 4% in lieu

Primary Job Objective as a Dorm Parent:

Dorm parents are responsible for ensuring students live in a safe and stable environment, offering assistance to both students and staff through effective facilitation of day-to-day activities. Dorm parents will be part of a specific team while on duty, and as part of an overall larger residence staff team.

 Responsibilities

• Building a rapport with students to help facilitate open lines of communication for questions, problems, and concerns
• Ensuring overall student needs are met including health, social well-being, behaviour management, and emotional support
• Supervising evening curfews and morning wakeup procedures and following Lock up and Lights out procedures
• Consistently acting as a mentor, supervisor and a positive role model for all students
• Being an active listener for students experiencing academic and/or personal difficulties
• Working with students to develop a sense of respect for self, others and community
• Ensuring that all of the students in their care are aware of the school’s safety rules and emergency procedures, (fire, earthquake, medical emergency, lock down, and shutting down gas and water supplies)
• Structuring and fulfilling duties related to students’ daily schedule, including support around uniform needs and health needs ie: ensuring proper uniform is worn daily
• Teaching and promoting life skills

Education, Experience and Skills

• Must successfully pass and complete a Ministry Criminal Record Check for working with vulnerable children and adults
• CPR Level C First Aid certification to be obtained within one month of employment
• Diploma in Education, Child & Youth Care or equivalent
• Leadership experience and experience working in a Boarding School is preferable
• Experience dealing with people, and in particular, adolescents, sensitively, empathetically, tactfully, consistently and professionally at all times
• Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills
• Class1,2, or 4 drivers license an asset

Brookes Westshore School is currently looking for a part-time Housekeeper to join our team. The Housekeeper works to ensure the cleanliness of the campus and follows Health and Safety Protocols.

Position Summary:

The housekeeper is responsible for a variety of housekeeping duties that include maintaining the cleanliness of classrooms, dorm rooms, bathrooms, common areas and dining hall, as well as doing laundry.

Schedule Details:

Schedule is Tuesday-Friday 6:00am-8:00am and an 8-hour shift on Sunday (shift time flexible dependent on availability of successful candidate)

Rate of pay and Benefits:

·         $21.00 an hour plus 4% in lieu

·         2 week's vacation

·         Free Parking

·         On-the job training

·         Potential for opportunities in other areas of the school

·         5 paid sick days after successful completion of 90 probationary period

Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:

·         vacuuming, dusting and washing floors

·         cleaning the dining hall after use, along with the mezzanine areas

·         cleaning and sanitizing all bathrooms

·         laundering bedding and clothes for boarding students

·         any other cleaning needs that may arise from time to time

The ideal candidate has the following skills and attributes:

·         minimum of one year experience as a housekeeper

·         is capable of lifting 35 lbs.

·         can work cooperatively with school staff

·         is able to work with minimal supervision

·         communicates respectfully, clearly and effectively

·         is able to maintain confidentiality

·         First Aid and WHMIS certificates an asset
